Nutritional/Feeding Assistant – Train-the-Trainer

Course Description

This program will certify Registered Nurses to teach IHCA's state-approved training program for feeding assistants who work in skilled nursing facilities.

The Nutritional / Feeding Assistant Train-the-Trainer Program will help nursing facilities meet the federal and state requirements for state-approved trained feeding assistants. This program will train and provide certification in feeding assistant training for Registered Nurses from long term care facilities. Upon completion, the RNs will be state certified to train feeding assistants at their facilities.

The Nutritional / Feeding Assistant Train-the-Trainer Program will help attendee’s plan feeding assistant training at their facilities and cover all federal and state rules and guidelines and other information necessary for their facilities to conduct on-site feeding assistant training based on AHCA's training program.

Learning Objectives

1. Understand federal and state rules and guidelines for feeding assistants.
2. Review adult learning techniques and different training methods.
3. Clarify how to order training materials.
4. Identify guidelines for obtaining class approval and completion certificates for facility staff members completing the training
