Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training

Course Description

The purpose of this course is to enhance the knowledge of the mandatory reporter in recognizing and reporting suspected abuse. This course meets the requirements for the two-hour training on child abuse and is appropriate for any individual who is designated a mandatory reporter by the state of Iowa.

Who must take this training?
It is everyone’s responsibility to report suspected abuse. Iowa Code 232.69(1) defines some professionals as mandatory reporters of child abuse and Iowa Code 235B.3(2) defines some professionals as mandatory reporters of dependent adult abuse.

Every individual required to report suspected abuse as defined in Iowa Code 232.69(1) and Iowa Code 235B.3(2) must complete two hours of mandatory report training within their first six months of employment or self-employment and every three years thereafter.

The training is approved for 2.0 contact hours for:

  • Assisted Living Managers
